The Egmond Half Marathon is over again. Thousands of participants ran 21.1 kilometers on the beach today in all weather conditions. View all the highlights here.
The fact that the first Dutchman in 18 years won the marathon makes this year extra special. Lucas Nieuweboer crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 3 minutes and 34 seconds. This last happened in 2006: Kamiel Maase was the first to cross the line. Among the women, Aminet Ahmed crossed the line first in 1 hour, 10 minutes and 4 seconds.
Charities
Not only have titles been won, but also very beautiful moments. For example, Nikita Smit ran the marathon for her mother together with her friend Mekkie. 54-year-old Sandra has cancer, and with the money raised for KWF, more research can be done into the disease. Mother Sandra ran the last hundred meters hand in hand along.
Judith Oud also ran for charity. She ran a quarter marathon to raise money for the MIND foundation. This foundation is committed to helping young people and adults with psychological problems. She herself deals with a lot of psychological problems, she said honorr. During her career in healthcare, she has had quite a few colleagues who suffered from burnout. She also has two sons, both of whom have autism. One of them has suffered from suicidal thoughts.
She may not be running to become the very best, but she is running with another important goal: “People are now talking about this topic more openly,” says Judith.
