120 orphans from the Ukraine on their way to Berlin

120 Jewish orphans from Odessa are on their way to Berlin. They are scheduled to arrive on Thursday and will be admitted to the Chabad Lubavitch Jewish Education Center.

They are children and young people up to the age of 18, among them a baby and two one-and-a-half-year-old toddlers, who are accompanied by 30 caregivers. After their arrival, they will be taken care of by Chabad, after which they will be accommodated in a hotel.

“This is a temporary solution. We are currently looking for premises for these children,” said a spokeswoman for BZ

In order not to drive into the interior of Ukraine, the bus convoy switched to the route via Moldova and Romania. It is more than 2000 kilometers on this route to Berlin. On Wednesday around noon, the children and their carers crossed the Moldovan border.

The association previously called for donations in kind for them.

“It’s incredible how much has arrived,” it said. At the moment you need food and drinks such as water as well as kosher snacks and sweets.
