Kiefer Sutherland mourns: “We will miss him very much”
Anton Canto starred in numerous successful productions. Among them: as Vice President-elect Aaron Shore in “Designated Survivor,” as Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla in “Narcos,” and as mutant Sunspot in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” His performance also landed him the lead role in Halle Berry’s directorial debut Bruised as well as Agent Game.
Kiefer Sutherland, who worked with Canto in “Designated Survivor,” paid tribute to the actor on Instagram, saying, “It seems like I’ve had to make too many posts like this lately, but I’m heartbroken over the loss of Adan Canto. He was such a wonderful spirit. As an actor, his desire to be good, to be great and to be better was truly impressive and we will miss him greatly.”
Born in Mexico in 1981, Mime leaves behind his wife Stephanie Ann Canto and two children, Roman Alder (three years) and Eve Josephine (18 months). The widow commented on her husband’s death on her Instagram account with a Bible verse: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy them and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
It is not known how long Canto had been battling cancer. Nor when the funeral should take place.
