WAITING IN THE SKY (BEFORE THE STARMAN CAME TO EARTH) will be in local record stores on April 20th.
Parlophone Records has announced that it will release a special vinyl EP of David Bowie’s THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS for the upcoming Record Store Day in April. Called WAITING IN THE SKY (BEFORE THE STARMAN CAME TO EARTH), the record features the original tracklist from the 1972 album and will only be available at participating record stores.
New Bowie recording exclusively at RSD
The Record Store Day (RSD) is the international day of independent record stores, on which they organize special events every year and offer records for sale that can only be purchased locally on that day (before they end up in the hands of the resellers at overpriced Discogs prices, who thus get the RSD -thoughts undermined). In 2024, the RSD will take place on Saturday, April 20th and will include, among other things, a special David Bowie LP.
WAITING IN THE SKY (BEFORE THE STARMAN CAME TO EARTH) features four songs that didn’t make it onto the final album. Instead of “Starman,” the Chuck Berry cover “Round and Round” sneaks onto the first page. The Bowie version of Jacques Brel’s “Amsterdam” closes the page. The second side also contains “Holy Holy” and “Velvet Goldmine”, which are also missing from the original released in 1972.
