On Friday (March 4th) it will be decided who will be allowed to represent Germany at the ESC 2022 in Turin this year. This time, however, the program for the preliminary decision will not only be limited to the selection of one of the six candidates, but will also address the current situation in Ukraine.
A “special version” of the winning song from Nicole’s “A Little Peace” from 1982 is planned. The then 17-year-old sang her way to the top of the Eurovision Song Contest, now, exactly 40 years later, the text is given a new one importance in the history of the Grand Prix.
The preliminary decision “Germany 12 Points” – this time broadcast in the first and third programs – will be moderated by Barbara Schöneberger. In addition, the special guests Conchita Wurst, who moderated the pandemic-related ESC replacement at ProSieben in 2020, and moderator Thomas Hermanns will be there.
This year the choices are Malik Harris, Eros Atomus, Emily Roberts, Nico Suave & Team Liebe, Felicia Lu and Maël & Jonas. You can already vote online, and then the last word falls on the show.
The Eurovision Song Contest will then take place on May 14, but without the participation of Russia. The expulsion came in response to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
