The Ugandan steeplechase runner Benjamin Kiplagat has apparently fallen victim to a violent crime in Kenya.
The body of the 34-year-old 2008 Olympic ninth-place finisher was found in a car in a suburb of Eldoret on Sunday. According to police, Kiplagat’s body had a deep knife wound in the neck.
Kiplagat had taken part in three Olympic Games in the 3000 m steeplechase; his best result at the World Championships was eleventh in Berlin in 2009.
