There was also a big crash in the Super-G on the infamous Stelvio in Bormio.
The South Tyrolean ski racer Christof Innerhofer fell, scored another goal while sliding and then crashed into the safety net. The 39-year-old was bleeding from his face and – like the Austrian Marco Schwarz the day before – was transported away by helicopter. Innerhofer is also suspected of having a knee injury.
Schwarz fell on Thursday’s descent. The 28-year-old seriously injured his right knee, has already had surgery and is out for the rest of the season. He lost the lead in the overall World Cup to the Swiss high-flyer Marco Odermatt.
