1,700 cameras, 5,000 measuring loops and 20 people are no longer sufficient to monitor and adjust traffic. “2023 will be the record year for traffic jams. It’s du jamais vu.” The Flemish Traffic Center is therefore looking for ten additional traffic controllers. Anyone who thinks that they only stare at a screen as if they were the VAR of the public road is mistaken. But what do they do? And why is it that traffic jams keep increasing?
