For Volendammer Henk Veerman, 2023 was a tumultuous year. After excellent maintenance in the Premier League with FC Volendam, the striker was told last summer that he was no longer in the club’s plans. Veerman was therefore loaned to ADO Den Haag, where he scored weekly in the first half of the season with goals and assists. “I’m really enjoying my time at ADO.”
Also Saturday afternoon in the 1-2 win over Jong AZ, Veerman was important again with an assist. Despite his twelve goals this season and his excellent form, Veerman does not want to point the finger at his employer FC Volendam. “Everyone who wanted me gone is now fortunately gone. Now we are building a new Volendam, but I am now a player for ADO Den Haag. So there is no point in raising a long finger.”
Because Veerman has been rented out by FC Volendam, he can be brought back to the fishing village during the winter break. However, the attacker does not take this into account. “I stay as far away as possible from those kinds of scenes. I don’t know what’s going on, they have to find out for themselves and, above all, leave me far out of it,” says Veerman.
Promotion
With ADO Den Haag, Veerman, who will spend Christmas with family in Volendam, is still in the race for promotion. After twenty games, ADO is third and only one point behind second place, which also entitles them to promotion to the Premier League.
