Jordi Versteegden does not rule out that Maxime Meiland is a fantasist

Jordi Versteegden, star reporter for De Telegraaf, does not rule out that Maxime Meiland is a fantasist and has made up her abuse story. “Maybe it didn’t happen at all.”

It is bizarre how little support Maxime Meiland receives now that a report of libel and slander has been filed against her. The reality star has accused a man of rape – it allegedly happened when they were both 15 years old – but he strongly denies it. He has a pretty convincing story and says he has a battalion of witnesses.

Maxime a fantasist?

Maxime’s alleged victim wanted to settle the matter amicably, but it has now ended in a lawsuit. Private boss Evert Santegoeds in the podcast Strictly Private: “I think that just writing it down without hearing either side was a not very helpful action on the part of the writer of the book.”

The writer in question is Jan Dijkgraaf. Did he accept Maxime’s story too blindly? Star reporter Jordi Versteegden thinks so: “Maybe it just didn’t happen at all. It also seems like an image blemish for Maxime Meiland.”

Nasty issue

Evert thinks that this could very well come back in Maxime’s face. “Yes, it can be one nasty become an issue if it turns out that she made it all up.”

Which is also a bit nasty? That Evert this week featured an old quote from Maxime on the cover of his weekly magazine Privé: “I’m good at lying!” She indeed says this in her book: “I am always very aware of what I can and cannot say and I stick to it. Of course, I learned to lie very well in the past, during my bad times.”

Evert: “In light of such an impending lawsuit, you may wonder whether she is undermining her own case.”

‘But why?’

Jordi really doesn’t understand Maxime at all. “The question really remains: why did Maxime want to share this in the book? What was her interest in this, huh?”

Maybe money, says Evert. “’Abused’ is on the cover. That’s a nice slogan that will sell books. That boy has already said, ‘I can’t think of any other purpose than to sell books.’”

Telegraaf presenter Wilson Boldewijn thinks that Maxime is not going to have a very cheerful Christmas: “It is striking: she does not receive much support from the media.”

Not in soap

When is summary proceedings against Maxime actually due? Rob Goossens in RTL Boulevard: “Actually, the most important thing is of course Maxime’s lawsuit, or actually the boy she accused of rape. Today we understand that there is a date for summary proceedings; that is January 19.”

He continues: “The good news for Maxime is that even if things end badly, it does not necessarily mean that we will see it on television, because we know from Massa is Kassa that the lawsuits at Talpa simply die on the cutting table. ”
