Moni has apparently failed this year in the social media challenge known as Whamageddon: the song finally reached number one 39 years after its release.
In Whamageddon, the song is avoided throughout December until Christmas Eve. If you hear the song, you are out of the game.
– (George) said he had written Last Christmas with the idea that he will write the official Christmas number one. The goal has been achieved! Ridgeley rejoices.
Ridgeley says that he has noticed that the song has become an important part of Christmas for many. The song has climbed high on the charts before, but has never reached number one.
