Former national goalkeeper Almuth Schult will now be a permanent football expert and co-commentator on ARD.
As Erste announced on Friday (December 22, 2023), the focus is on women’s football, but the 2014 world goalkeeper and Rio Olympic champion will also strengthen the team in the broadcasts of live men’s games.
“Almuth Schult is a great asset for our football broadcasts on ARD. We have already come to know and appreciate her expertise, her clever and clear analyzes as well as her friendly and open manner during our broadcasts of the last two major men’s football events.” , said ARD sports coordinator Axel Balkausky.
Schult is succeeding Nia Künzer, who moved to the German Football Association (DFB) as sports director. “The experiences over the last few years have opened up many new perspectives for me and given me the opportunity to be close to football even in times away from the pitch,” Schult said.
The 32-year-old had already worked as an expert for the sports show at the Women’s World Cup this summer, the Men’s World Cup in Qatar in 2022 and the Men’s European Championship in 2020.
