Bayer Leverkusen is already safely in the round of 16 in the Europa League as group winners and can put its feet up and relax during the playoffs. SC Freiburg, on the other hand, has to play in the second round. Head coach Christian Streich’s team finished second behind West Ham United. Now the Breisgauers have to compete against one of the “relegated” teams from the Champions League.
With AC Milan or Galatasaray, tough things could be waiting for Freiburg. There are no easy opponents in the knockout round anyway.
