Florian Wirtz has been associated with FC Bayern for weeks and months. What does it take for the offensive engine to move from Bayer Leverkusen to Munich? Apparently a lot, as Werkself boss Fernando Carro emphasized, who spoke of a double “pain threshold”.
Florian Wirtz’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen runs until 2027. Actually, those responsible for the Bundesliga high-flyer don’t have to worry. But Wirtz has been a topic at FC Bayern for years in the past due to his great talent, and recently speculation about a move to the German football record champions has increased again.
However, Wirtz does not have an exit clause in his contract, which means that if the Munich team actually wanted to get serious, the offensive midfielder would by no means be cheap. A sum in the range of over 100 million euros has long been mentioned for Wirtz.
Asked by “Bild” whether there was a pain threshold for the 20-year-old beyond which the Leverkusen team could become weak, Werkself boss Fernando Carro admitted: “There are always pain thresholds.”
With the shooting star, these are “not only very, very high economically, but also emotionally – for both sides.” A double pain threshold, so to speak.
Wirtz: Leverkusen success could prevent Bayern’s move
Carro also emphasized what those responsible at Bayer have been preaching for a long time: “We are not thinking about a sale.” At least not next summer.
Most recently, “Sport1” reported that both the players and the club had decided that Wirtz should play for Bayer at least until 2024/25 and (probably) get a taste of the Champions League.
“I believe that Florian feels very comfortable here at the club, in this team, with this coach and knows that he can still develop further with us,” said Carro to “Bild”.
And who knows, if things go well there, things could last even longer between Wirtz and the Werkself. “If you can share in a path to success here, you don’t need to move to any other club,” concluded the Bayer boss.
