With a late double strike, the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven won the top game in the German Ice Hockey League.

The North Germans won 2-0 (0-0, 0-0, 2-0) against the third-place Straubing Tigers and put the Eisbären Berlin under pressure at the top of the table.

The goalkeepers Kristers Gudlevskis and Hunter Miska left their mark on the game in Bremerhaven, the duo fended off all 55 shots until the 58th minute. Only then did Miha Verlic defeat Straubing’s goalie Miska. Just 66 seconds later, Felix Maegaard Scheel scored into the empty net and secured the Penguins’ fourth win in the last five games.

Defending champion Red Bull Munich got back on the road to success. After two defeats, the team of former national coach Toni Söderholm defeated the Schwenninger Wild Wings 3-0 (1-0, 1-0, 1-0) and moved closer to the top trio again.

In Munich, Chris DeSouza gave the hosts the lead (18th), Ben Smith (31st) increased in the middle section. Andreas Eder (52nd) made the decision.
