Everywhere in the province people from Brabant are committed to the people of Ukraine. This is also the case in Breda, where a non-profit organization collects all kinds of materials from healthcare. “Three pallets of stuff are going to western Ukraine this week.”
It concerns Logistics Community Brabant (LCB). The organization has been collecting medical supplies from healthcare organizations for some time now. This concerns things that they no longer need. LCB wants to prevent waste in healthcare.
All kinds of stuff
The collected items will be offered on Monday to an aid organization in Dordrecht, which arranges transport to western Ukraine. This concerns all types of healthcare items, from incontinence materials to catheters.
“This entire project is paid for by the province and the municipality of Breda. We are a non-profit organisation,” explains Piet Berkers of LCB. “We collect this stuff from health care institutions, they offer it to us for free, and we pass it on to those who need it – in this case to people in Ukraine.”
‘More fame’
LCB is still little known, Berkers admits. “We hope that we will receive more attention through this campaign. The more well-known we are, the better. Then even more healthcare institutions will participate, and we can do this structurally. If all goes well, we can send stuff to Ukraine every week from now on. “
Berkers also hopes that the items will give the people in Ukraine a little courage. “It is hope for people after all. It is important that they know there that they are thought of.”
