Sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth has long-term plans with successful coach Sebastian Hoeneß at VfB Stuttgart. “But the most important thing is not the contract – but the feeling and the conviction that he is with VfB Stuttgart with heart and soul and accepts the framework set by the club. I see that 100 percent,” Wohlgemuth said in an interview with “Stuttgarter Zeitung” and the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten”.
Hoeneß took over the team as bottom of the table last year and secured relegation through relegation. In the current season, the Swabians are in third place – the 27 points they have collected so far from twelve games mean their best Bundesliga start since 2003/04. To date, Hoeneß has scored an average of 2.12 points in 26 games; no coach at VfB has had a better result this century.
“He has all the prerequisites to be on the sidelines in the Champions League at some point. Whether at FC Bayern or at VfB, which might be in that category again at some point. But everything in its time,” father and advisor Dieter Hoeneß recently told “Sport Bild”.
