Circeo Rai 1 TV series: previews of the third episode 28 November

THE PLOT OF THE THIRD EPISODE

The third episode of Circeo, composed of the fifth and sixth episodes of the miniseries, opens with the first instance sentence for the main defendants in the trial. AND July 29, 1976 when Gianni Guido, Angelo Izzo and Andrea Ghira come sentenced to life imprisonment without any mitigating circumstances. Ghira, convicted in absentia, had fled to Spain to join the Spanish Foreign Legion, from which he was later expelled in 1994 for drug abuse, dying shortly after from an overdose in the autonomous Spanish city of Melilla. The first instance sentence already marks a turning point in the history of the fight for women’s rights and Teresa Capogrossi, increasingly involved, decides to continue alongside the lawyer Tina Lagostena Bassileaving behind the brief moment of closeness with Saverio.

Donatella Colasantithe only survivor of the massacre, instead tries to start a new life, looking for a job, starting to be interested in theater and also trying to create new emotional bonds, but the ghosts of the past do not abandon him. Months pass and Teresa, supported and supported by Tina Lagostena Bassi, becomes convinced that the general public should watch a real rape trial on video and from there comes the idea of ​​a documentary broadcast on TV about a case of sexual violence. In the meantime, however, news arrives of the appeal process that could question the life sentence for the three main defendants.

The appeal process opens five years after the first instance sentence, without any particular media hype. The lawyers Tarsitano and Lagostena Bassi, supported by Teresa, support and defend Donatella with even more strength and determination to see the first degree conviction confirmed. The sentence arrived on October 28, 1980: life sentences confirmed for Izzo and GhiraWhile for Guido the sentence is reduced to 30 years after the man’s declaration of repentance and the acceptance of compensation by the family of the murdered girl, Rosaria Lopez.

THE SERIES

The dramatic episode that involved the lives of Donatella and Rosaria has generated strong cinematic and television interest over the last 48 years. Circeo, distributed over Paramount+ last year and now finally free to air on Rai 1, it is the second miniseries dedicated to this dramatic story since The woman who returnsproduced by Endemol for Rai Fiction and broadcast by Rai 1 in four prime time slots between 18 October and 1 November 2011.
