Dream goal from Herrmann
The German juniors reached the quarter-finals of the U17 World Cup in Indonesia with a 3:2 (2:1) win against the USA. The highlights of the game can be seen for free on FIFA+ (Advertisement).
Charles Herrmann (14th minute) gave coach Christian Wück’s team the lead early on with a well-converted free kick. Almost ten minutes later, the DFB juniors had to accept a surprising equalizer from Taha Habroune (24th) after a defensive error. In the first half, Max Moerstedt (34th) was able to put Germany in the front again after an assist from the strong Herrmann.

The second half culminated in an eventful final phase. First, a low free kick from David Vazquez (80′) found its way into the German goal. Bilal Yalcinkaya (87′), who was nominated later and came on as a substitute just a minute earlier, shot the DFB juniors into the lead for the third time after a fine dribble. Goalkeeper Max Schmitt (90th) was able to hold on to this with a strong save shortly before the end (See all goals on FIFA+).
Next Friday (9:30 a.m.) Germany will play in the quarter-finals against Spain, who beat Japan 2-1 (1-1) on Monday.
