Superstar Kylian Mbappé single-handedly scored three goals for French top club Paris Saint-Germain to a 3-0 win in the league game against Stade Reims on Saturday. Instead of praise, the striker even had to accept criticism from his own coach after the final whistle.

“I’m not happy with Mbappé today,” said PSG coach Luis Enrique on the “Amazon” microphone, to the amazement of everyone, after the 24-year-old had just scored the Spanish coach’s team to victory with a hat trick.

Of course he has no complaints about the goals, Enrique explained, “but he can help the team even more, in other ways. I’ll talk to him about that first. I won’t reveal what I mean here, because that’s a private matter thing,” said the PSG coach, who then described Mbappé as one of the “best players in the world”. “But we need more from him. And we want him to do more,” said Enrique.

Enrique: Mbappé needs to take part in the game more

A little later, the former professional followed up again at the press conference and supported his statements from the interview. “I have nothing to say about the goals, we all know what Mbappé can do. But I think he can still improve and reach an even higher level,” emphasized the PSG coach.

It was his job and the job of everyone involved to get the superstar to “participate even more in many parts of the game,” explained Enrique.

It remains to be seen how these statements will be received by Mbappé. The fact is that the 24-year-old is by far his team’s best goalscorer again this season. He has already scored 13 times in eleven league games. Overall, Mbappé has 15 goals in 15 competitive games this season. A rate that almost all players in the world can only dream of.
