A 76-year-old man from Made who threatened Mayor Boy Scholtze on Monday was arrested the same day. The suspect shouted various threats and insults at the mayor from his car, also referring disapprovingly to his orientation. He also allegedly wanted to run over the mayor. Scholtze had to jump out of the way for this, the police reported.
Mayor Scholtze, mayor of Drimmelen since December last year, walked from the town hall to his parked car around eleven o’clock on Monday. After the confrontation with the mayor, the suspect entered the town hall. The man had already been temporarily banned from entering due to previous misconduct. There, the suspect at the counter repeated various threats and insults to the mayor.
The mayor has reported threats, attempted serious assault, discrimination and insults. The suspect is also said to have committed trespassing by entering the town hall in violation of a location ban.
The police are still looking for witnesses to both the incident in the parking lot and at the counter in the town hall.
