Media: Construction stop at the Carsch House

Construction work on the Carsch House, where the KaDeWe Group’s new luxury department store is being built, was interrupted.

Several service providers are said to have withdrawn workers from the construction site, various media reports, including the daily newspaper Rheinische Post. The reason for this is missing payments amounting to millions from Signa, the co-owner of the luxury department store operator. The report came after it became known that several Signa construction projects in Hamburg had come to a standstill, including the Elbtower.

In Düsseldorf, the Carsch House is to be rebuilt and the adjacent Heinrich-Heine-Platz is to be redesigned. A 10,000 square meter department store with seven floors is to be built there. After the Austrian conglomerate received the city’s building permit last November, the groundbreaking ceremony took place at the end of March. Project completion is scheduled for spring 2025.
