AC Milan only managed a 2-2 draw in the top game in the Italian Serie A against champions SSC Napoli on Sunday (October 29, 2023) after a 2-0 half-time lead.
Olivier Giroud gave Milan the lead with two goals in the first half of the game (22nd and 31st). Shortly after the break, Matteo Politano scored the next goal for Napoli, and Giacomo Raspadori equalized (63′). This meant that Milan slipped to third place behind Juventus. Shortly before the end, Natan saw yellow-red for the hosts (89th).
Inter defended Leading the table
Thanks to a late goal from former Bundesliga player Marcus Thuram (81st), Inter Milan had previously consolidated their lead in Serie A. Last season’s Champions League finalist won against AS Roma 1-0 (0-0).
From the start, coach Simone Inzaghi’s team dominated the game in front of a good 75,000 spectators in the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, but also left their best opportunities unused. The score at halftime was 12-0. And even after the break, Inter clearly dominated the game but remained goalless before Thuram redeemed the Nerazzurri.
Cagliari turns 0-3 deficit
Cagliari Calcio had previously celebrated their first win of the season with an impressive comeback and thus left last place in the table. In the 4:3 (0:2) against Frosinone Calcio, the Sardinians turned around a 0:3 deficit in the last 24 minutes. Substitute Leonardo Pavoletti (90+4, 90+6) scored the equalizer and winning goal late in stoppage time.
