The Friulian Bianconeri, still without a win, overcame the deficit (signed by Colpani) and brought home a draw on the day of the new coach’s debut
Gabriele Cioffi starts with a draw at Monza. It ends 1-1 at the U-Power Stadium: Lucca responds to Colpani’s goal. The Friulians catch Empoli, who will play tomorrow, in third-to-last place and still remain without a win in the championship. Raffaele Palladino has to settle for a point which places him on the same level as Lecce and Lazio (the Biancocelesti will also be on the pitch tomorrow) on the edge of the Europe zone.
COLPANI AGAIN – Everything as expected at Monza: without Izzo and D’Ambrosio in defence, Palladino chooses Andrea Carboni to complete the defensive trio while up front Vignato acts as an attacking midfielder together with Colpani. Cioffi, making his debut, focuses on Success as a surprise forward alongside Pereyra. The first quarter of an hour flies by peacefully, with a prolonged study phase. A right-footed shot from Vignato in the 13th minute, only central, after a very soft stop, heats up the atmosphere. Udinese’s response came in the 23rd minute: Samardzic’s free kick, his left foot found the head of Bijol who turned high over the crossbar. A minute later the same story, only this time Samardzic’s rainbow closes the arc in the small area and Di Gregorio dives to move the ball out. Monza passes in the 27th minute: Andrea Carboni launches Kyriakopoulos on the wing, the Greek crosses first and finds Colpani with perfect synchronization. Fifth goal in the league (out of 9 in total) for the attacking midfielder from Brescia who could be called up by Luciano Spalletti in November.
THE SUDDEN EQUAL – The second half begins with a great opportunity for Udinese. In the 6th minute a ball comes to Zemura’s feet inside the area, Di Gregorio throws himself on the ball and manages to block the shot. Cioffi after 10′ inserts Ferreira and Lucca for Ebosele and Samardzic. In the 15th minute it’s Palladino’s turn: Bondo and Mota Carvalho come on for Pablo Marì and Vignato. The experiment is Gagliardini first as a central defender and then as a right-sided scorer in the trio. Lovric also enters the Friulians in place of Payero and Camara in place of Zemura. In the 21st minute Udinese suddenly equalized with Lucca. From a seemingly harmless throw-in, the ball reaches the far post where the center forward is the quickest to turn on goal. Quick consultation with the VAR and goal validated. At 34′ Maric comes on for Colombo and Birindelli for Colpani. Birindelli on the right pushes Ciurria further up to play the attacking midfielder. And it is Monza’s number 84 who turns left towards Silvestri in the 38th minute: great shot and great response from Silvestri. Monza’s latest change is Valentin Carboni, who replaces Ciurria. In the 45th minute it was Valentin Carboni who called Silvestri into another decisive save. It ends like this, with one point each and many regrets at Monza.
