Update Jupiler Pro League
The interim market value update in the Jupiler Pro League has produced a new leader. Royal Antwerp’s Arthur Vermeeren (18) overtakes Gift Orban (21; market value of 20 million euros unchanged) and is the new most valuable player in Belgium with 25 million euros. FC Brugge’s Antonio Nusa (18) also made a big jump of 400 percent, who now has a whopping 16 million euros more in his account and shares second place with Orban. A total of 184 professionals received market value adjustments. There is a minus for ex-Dortmunder Thorgan Hazard (30).
In general, it is the highly talented youngsters in particular who make a leap forward. Not only Vermeeren (+7 million to 25 million euros) and Nusa (+16 million to 20 million euros) should be mentioned here, but also Bilal El Khannouss from KRC Genk (19; +5 million to 18 million . Euro), Frankfurt candidate Zeno Debast from RSC Anderlecht (19, +3 million to 13 million euros) and Mandela Keita from Antwerp (21, +4 million to 11 million euros). “On the one hand, these players have simply continued their good development from last season, but on the other hand, we see that more money is being put on the table worldwide for such great talents,” explains Bart Tamsyn, Transfermarkt Area Manager Belgium. “So the upgrades of these young talents are a combination of their increasing performances and the increasing prices for these types of players.”
Vermeeren therefore has the same market value as Jonathan David (23) when he moved from KAA Gent to LOSC Lille in the summer of 2020, and is not far below the 30 million euros with which Charles De Ketelaere (22) signed FC in 2022 Bruges left for AC Milan. “Vermeeren is perhaps the prime example of the new Belgian football, in which technique, tactics and overview are combined with a higher speed of execution, which can also be seen with El Khannouss,” said Tamsyn. “Given his young age and the interest from clubs such as FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Liverpool FC, coupled with the Champions League experience he is now gaining and his recent debut for the Belgian national team, he is up on the way to becoming a record sale for Antwerp that could be in the history books for a long time.” Gastón Ávila (22) is still at the top of this ranking with his 12.5 million euros, which Ajax Amsterdam paid in the summer.

Of the 184 footballers with new valuations, 51 receive a lower value than before. Gabriel Slonina (19; -2.5 million to 6.5 million euros) is the one who loses the most due to his move from FC Chelsea to KAS Eupen and the recently poorer performance of his new team under coach Florian Kohfeldt. Brügge’s Ferran Jutglà (24; -2 million to 8 million euros) and Casper Nielsen (29; -1.5 million to 5 million euros) also lost significantly, as did Anderlecht’s Anders Dreyer (25; -1.5 million to 6.5 million euros), Standard Liège’s Moussa Djenepo (25; -1.5 million to 6.5 million euros) and RWD Molenbeek’s Jeff Reine-Adélaïde (25; -1.5 million to 3 .5 million euros).
For Hazard, who moved from BVB to Anderlecht in the summer, it goes down from 7 to 6 million euros. “There are several reasons for Hazard’s devaluation: on the one hand, RSC Anderlecht only paid 4 million euros, and on the other hand, the move from the Bundesliga to the Jupiler Pro League is a step backwards. He is also over 30. His influence on the game in the first few games was also less than you would expect from a professional with his qualities, although he contributed an assist in each of the last two games. “But he was never able to play for 90 minutes and since this year he has also lost his place in the Belgian national team,” explains Tamsyn.
Jupiler Pro League sees significant growth
Overall, the first Belgian league is experiencing a significant upswing; after an increase of 112.58 million euros, it is now worth 945.19 million euros. “Belgium has always been a sales league in recent years, trying to acquire talent young and cheaply in order to then sell them for considerable added value. There was also a difference of over 107 million euros between expenses and income in the two transfer periods of the 2022/23 season. So it’s normal for market values to go up and down in the Jupiler Pro League,” says Tamsyn.
The most valuable club remains FC Brugge. The 18-time national champion benefits primarily from the plus from Nusa, also Andreas Skov Olsen (23; +4 million to 18 million euros) and Maxim De Cuyper (22; +3 million to 8 million euros). too, Brugge’s squad is now worth 148.75 million euros. The market value curve at Royal Antwerp FC is also pointing upwards.
