On the proposal of Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom Council of Ministers has approved the appointment of Birgitta Tazelaar as ambassador to Washington. The appointment will take effect in the summer of 2023 and will not be final until approved by the US government.
Birgitta Tazelaar is currently Deputy Director-General for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her previous positions included director of the North Africa and Middle East Directorate, a representative to the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah and deputy head of the Political Department in London.
