Chazia Mourali believes it is important to live consciously. In this way, she wants to contribute to the fight against climate change. An example? “We are not going on a winter sports holiday this year.”
Conscious living is an important theme for NPO presenter Chazia Mourali, known to most people for her strict character in The Weakest Link. She also finds it valuable to pass this on to her 16-year-old daughter. “She stopped eating meat when she was eleven,” the presenter said The Telegraph.
No winter holidays
Where is that daughter now? On holiday. But a climate-friendly holiday. “Now she is traveling to Rome with school. She could choose whether she went by train or by plane, then she chose the train.”
All great. If only there were more little Chaziats. And what about big Chazia? “We have decided not to go on a winter sports holiday this year, but to go for a nice walk near Maastricht. We sometimes take walks in the Belgian hills where we don’t encounter a dog, you don’t have to go to Sweden for that.”
Mount Everest
Chazia wants people to travel a little closer from now on. “You know those photos of Mount Everest with traffic jams on them? Or that people have to go to India or Thailand to find inner peace. Enjoy it here!”
After a lifetime of traveling, Chazia has settled down at the age of 60. Now the rest can also travel less, she thinks. So we all have to contribute. “There are already children who say they don’t want children. That total fear.”
Sixty years
Is Chazia a satisfied sixty-something? “Certainly. I am healthy, have the program of my dreams, a husband who loves me, the nicest daughter and dear friends.”
“What could I wish for except world peace and fewer climate problems?” she concludes.
