Lots of smoke development and NL-Alert during a major fire on Boris Pasternakstraat in Amsterdam-Zuidoost

A Vattenfall auxiliary heating plant on the corner of Burgemeesterstramanweg and Boris Pasternakstraat in Amsterdam-Zuidoost is on fire. A spokesperson for the fire brigade said that gas tanks would be present. The fire brigade asks people to stay away. It has been scaled up from a medium fire to Grip 1 notification, which means that coordination between the emergency services is required.

It is unclear whether there are people in the building. The fire brigade is busy extinguishing the fire. “There is something on fire that would involve gas tanks, so some caution needs to be exercised,” the spokesperson said. “We really ask people to stay away.”

Because Bijlmer station and Strandvliet metro station are nearby, extra efforts are being made to combat the fire, according to the spokesperson. An NL Alert has been issued for the effect area.
