The weapons and radar equipment that the Netherlands will supply to Ukraine are on their way. That said Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren on the television program Jinek. “At the moment the transport is on its way.”
The cabinet previously announced it would supply sniper rifles with associated ammunition, weapon location radars, battlefield surveillance radars, metal detectors and wire-guided detection robots to detect naval mines. It also concerns combat helmets and shard vests.
Delivery was slightly delayed due to Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine. “We had a different logistical plan, but the attack by the Russians had to change that,” said the minister.
During a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky asked for even more military aid on Friday. Defense has already looked into the request this day, Ollongren said. “We’re going to do our very best to help.”
The Netherlands is also looking at how humanitarian and financial aid can be given to President Zelensky’s government. More clarity on this should be provided in the coming days.
