The US electric car manufacturer Tesla says it does not expect any major hurdles for the initial approval of the planned expansion of the factory in Grünheide.
Based on the objections to the entire project, Tesla sees no significant technical or legal hurdles, the company said with a view to the hearing of critics, which begins on Monday in Erkner near Berlin. More than 1,000 objections from critics will be debated – from water to nature conservation to dealing with incidents.
Tesla wants to expand its only electric car factory in Europe and aims to double production capacity from the initial target of 500,000 cars, which has not yet been achieved, to one million cars per year. To this end, the company submits three-part applications for environmental approval to the state of Brandenburg.
In NASDAQ trading, Tesla shares temporarily lost 3.37 percent to $212.67.
