European Championship qualifying match Belgium vs. Sweden canceled

The European Championship qualifier between Belgium and Sweden was canceled at half-time. Two people were previously shot dead in the center of Brussels. According to media reports, the two dead are believed to be from Sweden. The crime scene was five kilometers from the stadium.

An announcement in the stadium informed the spectators that the match would be abandoned when the score was 1:1. However, they initially had to remain seated in the stadium and wait for the green light from the security services to leave.

An armed man had previously fired shots on the street. The police investigation is still ongoing. According to the Belgian news agency Belga, there have been no arrests yet.

Belgium had already qualified in Group F for the finals in Germany (June 14th to July 14th) last Friday. Austria followed suit on Monday evening with a win in Azerbaijan (1-0).
