The second-hand platform Vinted now offers a product verification service for its customers.
After a test phase, members from Germany, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands have the opportunity to have certain items checked for authenticity, the company based in Vilnius, Lithuania, announced on Monday. These are products that cost over 100 euros and are part of the fashion categories for adults – bags, shoes, accessories, jewelry and watches.
The service is currently only offered for a selection of brands from the design and streetwear sectors. These include Bottega Veneta, Celine, Jacquemus as well as Adidas and New Balance. More brands will be added gradually. A banner with an Item Review flag indicates that the product is available for this service.
“We know that authenticity and trust are paramount in the world of online second-hand shopping, and we believe this should be accessible to everyone,” said Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted Marketplace. “That’s why we’ve worked hard to offer our reliable designer piece verification service at an affordable price. Since founding Vinted 15 years ago, we have always been committed to making second-hand fashion the first choice for everyone, and we see this new service as a significant step forward in our commitment to giving our community the utmost trust give.”
Vinted charges a fee of ten euros for this service, which includes shipping to the verification center. The center is located in Hamburg because, after acquiring Rebelle, Vinted joined forces with the German resale platform to offer product verification to Vinted members as well.
