Thanks to the power of the Bundesliga, the Danish footballers are heading for the European Championships in Germany.

Coach Kasper Hjulmand’s team confidently defeated the previously surprisingly strong outsiders Kazakhstan 3:1 (3:0) and remains in a qualifying place with 16 points in Group H. Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind (36th) and Hoffenheim’s Robert Skov (45th+1, 48th) scored in Copenhagen with his first international brace in four years before Yan Worogowski (58th) made the final score.

Thanks to Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Slovenia also took a big step towards participating in the European Championship for the first time since 2000. Coach Matjaz Kek’s team defeated their direct opponents Finland 3-0 (2-0) in Ljubljana and is level with Denmark at the top. Sesko scored a brace before the break (16th, penalty kick and 28th), Erik Janza (90th + 2) made the final score in stoppage time.

Finland and Kazakhstan still have a small chance of winning the European Championship, four points behind the top duo with three games remaining. In the duel between the basement children of the group, Northern Ireland won 3-0 (2-0) against San Marino, but the European Championship ticket is still out of reach.
