NFL moves into “permanent home” in Germany

The NFL has ceremoniously opened its new Germany headquarters. The premises of the new Germany headquarters are located in the Dreischeibehaus in the city center of the North Rhine-Westphalia state capital Düsseldorf. From there, the development of American football in Germany will be further promoted.

“It’s important to have a permanent home here now,” said Dr. Alexander Steinforth, General Manager of NFL Germany, the “SID”.

And further: “It was important for us to have a partner at our side where we opened our headquarters who was interested in growing the sport in the long term. That is the case in Düsseldorf.”

The step is “another milestone” after the first regular season game was played on German soil in Munich in 2022. “The next tasks are already imminent: We are looking forward to two NFL games this year on November 5th and 12th in Frankfurt,” continued Steinforth.

Peter O’Reilly, Executive Vice President, Club Business, International, & League Events of the NFL, explained to the invited guests and media representatives, according to “football-aktuell.de”: “We as the NFL are happy with our German headquarters here in Düsseldorf The activations and events that have already taken place in the city and the way in which the fans interact here make us proud. We already experienced the enthusiasm that the NFL has in Munich last year Germany. Regardless, we are pursuing a year-round commitment with the NFL in Germany to bring American football to Germany and further increase the popularity of the sport.”

Düsseldorf’s mayor Dr. Stehan Keller emphasized the importance of the NRW metropolis as a “sports city”. He is looking forward to “many projects together.”
