After the successful debut against Istanbulspor (2-0), Besiktas is going into the coming weeks with ex-professional Burak Yilmaz as coach following the resignation of Senol Günes. As the people of Istanbul announced on Tuesday after a meeting with club president Ahmet Nur Cebi, the 38-year-old will initially be in charge until the extraordinary general meeting, at which the board will also be re-elected. This should take place in December at the latest.
Günes resigned last Friday after the 3-2 home defeat against FC Lugano in the Conference League. Besiktas led 2-0 after two goals from Vincent Aboubakar (38th/52nd), but conceded three more goals in the last ten minutes. In the 90th minute, Eric Bailly scored an own goal to make the final score.

Besiktas is fourth in the Süper Lig with 16 points after eight games. The “Eagles” are already six points behind defending champions Galatasaray and even eight behind Fenerbahce, who have won all league games so far. Yilmaz ended his active career in the summer and joined Günes’ coaching team as an assistant.
