Prime Minister Rutte will be present on Thursday, October 12, 2023, together with Minister Bruins Slot (Foreign Affairs) and State Secretary Van Ooijen (Public Health, Welfare and Sport), at the annual commemoration of the uprising in the Sobibór camp in 1943. The Prime Minister will hold a speech during the commemoration in Sobibór, Poland, will give a speech and lay a wreath.
This year, the commemoration of the uprising, which took place 80 years ago, is also the final stage of the redesign of the Sobibór memorial center. Together with Poland, Slovakia and Israel, the Netherlands has worked on redesigning this memorial site.
After the commemoration, the ministers will speak with relatives. They will also receive a tour of the renewed memorial site and visit the exhibition in the museum.
