The whole nation has been following the situation in Ukraine relentlessly in the last days.

So does U.S. actor-director Sean Penn, 61. He has traveled to Kiev to work on a documentary about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Penn has been working on a documentary about the tense situation for months in the United States. Now, however, he returned to Ukraine and showed no intention of leaving.

The documentary produced by VICE Studios has caused deep gratitude to the Ukrainian leadership. Penn met with the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, who shared a video of the duo’s meeting on his Instagram account.

– The more people hear about the war in Ukraine, the higher the probability of stopping Russia, Zelenskyi writes in a post.

The Ukrainian government’s Facebook was also grateful for Penn’s documentary work and was described as a bolder mouthpiece than even Western leaders.

– American actor and filmmaker, Oscar winner Sean Penn has arrived in Ukraine. The director traveled to Kiev to record events that are currently shaking Ukraine and to tell the truth about how Russia is invading our country, Facebook writes.

Now Penn is settling in Kiev as a house, with as many as hundreds of thousands of others desperately trying to escape the country.

People have rushed to the suburbs of metro stations to escape the chaos, while crowded buses are transporting people to Romania and Poland.
