Fans support Jari Sillanpää in the midst of the commotion: “People do worse things”

Jari Sillanpää is performing today in Järvenpää for the first time since the release of the documentary.

Jari Sillanpää performed on Friday, October 6 in Järvenpää at Eikan Pub.

It was Sillanpää’s first public appearance about himself Silt– after the release of the documentary series.

Silt has brought up Sillanpää’s criminal convictions from a few years ago as a topic of conversation again. As a result of the uproar, the organizer has canceled Sillanpää’s performances at Helsinki’s John’s Church and Hämeenlinna’s Verkatehta.

Also in Järvenpää, a demonstration against Sillanpää was planned for the evening of the concert on social media, which ultimately did not happen.

The fans are supportive

Those who have followed Sillanpää’s career for a long time Tuppah and Anja arrived to watch the Friday evening concert in Järvenpää. The friends want to support their favorite singer despite the commotion.

– Humans are fallible. I think he has tried to mend his ways and apologized. People do much worse things, says Tuppu, who has followed Sillanpää’s career since 1995.

– I myself have experienced all kinds of things as a child. She can sing, that’s what matters in these matters, Anja adds.

The publication got me thinking

Iltalehti could not reach Sillanpää, who arrived at Eikan Pub, to comment on the events of the past few days. The manager of Sillanpää Ulla Huttunen says that the commotion has not affected the team’s work.

– Of course we are upset, but there is nothing we can do about it.

Huttunen says that no further cancellations are known at the moment and that new concerts are being discussed.

– We have talked with many concert halls. There is a very strong opinion that concert halls are not judicial institutions. People will enjoy the music, Huttunen says.

– Jari has earned a new chance, all people do. We are all equally valuable.

Huttunen says that there has been a lot of feedback from the public in recent days, most of it positive.

– People talk about things with such names, for which Jari has not received a verdict and which he has not done, Huttunen describes the negative comments.

Huttunen is not aware that any protests were planned for Sillanpää’s concerts. He points out that the singer has a successful summer tour behind him and the situation has not changed since, for example, last fall, when Sillanpää gave a concert at Hämeenlinna’s Verkatehta, for example.

– With the documentary series, there will be strong expressions of opinion and threats here and there.

Huttunen admits that he thought about the publication of the documentary series in advance.

– Maybe it was known that something like this would happen, he reflects.

– Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I think that Jari also has the right to carry out his own work, Huttunen sums up.

Cancellations

A four-part series recently shown on MTV Silt-documentary series has once again raised the criminal convictions of Jari Sillanpää for drunk driving, drug offenses and spreading an image offensive to sexual immorality into the public debate.

The last-mentioned verdict concerned a video shot on a computer screen with a mobile phone, where an adult man has sexual intercourse with a very young child, as well as eight images taken from a computer screen, where an adult directs sexual activity to a very young child.

Last week it was announced that Sillanpää’s participation in the charity concert organized in support of the Cancer Foundation has been cancelled. The concert will take place on October 10 in Helsinki’s John’s Church, but without Sillanpää.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the city of Hämeenlinna has canceled the November 21st concert at Verkatehta.

– We had a guiding conversation with our owner. Hämeenlinna is a child-friendly city. Due to these previous events, we saw that it is wisest not to bring the concert to Hämeenlinna by a company owned by the city, CEO of Verkatehtaa Janne Auvinen justified the cancellation to Iltalehti.
