Fget to know hundreds of extraordinary and often inaccessible places throughout Italy. This is the goal of Autumn Days that the FAI, the Italian Environmental Fund ETS, dedicated for twelve years to the cultural and landscape heritage of our country. Over the weekend of 14 and 15 October there will be many special visits in selected places where the public can only marvel at the treasures hidden in every corner of the Peninsula.
The FAI Autumn Days are back
Among these they will discover themselves historic buildings, villas, churches, castles, and also examples of industrial archaeology, museums, art collections, archaeological areas, libraries, artisan workshops and production sites. Furthermore, there will be itineraries in villages and routes in naturalistic areasurban parks, botanical gardens and historic gardens.
Wide open doors of schools and universities
The FAI Autumn Days will also throw open the doors of 11 universities and more than 32 institutes, academies, research centers and training laboratories. A choice, that of dedicating oneself to places of education, «which seems to underline that we need to return to entrust schools and universities with a foundational role for the quality of our country’s future», explained the president of FAI Marco Magnifico, presenting the Giornate at La Sapienza in Rome.
The universities involved
From the Politecnico di Milanonow a research center on the Cathedral, al Marine Center of Fano (PU), which has a laboratory even inside a buoy in the middle of the sea, places of study, in wonderful sites, such as theAcademy of Fine Arts in Ravennawith his mosaic works, or the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory of Catania, all in neo-Gothic style. For two days, like the other assets involved, they will be open-air “classrooms”.
How to participate in the visits
To participate, it is possible consult the list of all planned openings on the website and to participate it is sufficient to show up on site during the opening hours indicated in the descriptive sheet of each location. There the visitors they will find FAI volunteers who will provide all the necessary information for the visit and information on waiting times.
Anyone who registers in advance with the FAI is already registered or registers with the FAI on site, has priority access. Members will benefit from exclusive entry to the places reserved for them (always indicated on the site).
