Gordon’s TV career has come to a standstill now that he is leaving Talpa with a fuss. His only chance for a successful restart seems to be a new season of Over De Vloer. Did he call Gerard Joling?
It seems like Gordon’s TV career is a bit over. Not only has the entertainer not had much success on television for years, but he also left Talpa with a lot of fuss. He says he is so happy that he can almost leave John de Mol’s media company that he will be leaving the flag on the expiry date.
Geer and Goor
If Gordon wants to continue in television, there are only two options: the NPO or RTL. The public broadcaster is not an option due to the relatively low salary ceiling and RTL boss Peter van der Vorst will not be keen on him either. But perhaps if Gerard Joling and he revive the legendary Joling & Gordon over de Vloer.
Many viewers have been asking for a sequel for years, although the call has become smaller now that Gordon’s popularity is under pressure because he always radiates so much negativity.
No call
Has Gordon already placed a call? No, Gerard says RTL Boulevard. “No, I haven’t spoken to Gordon in three years, so I have no idea how the man is doing, but I hope he’s doing well.”
Would Gerard be open to a renewed collaboration? “Well, open is a big word. It also has to do with RTL. I don’t decide that. I just signed up again for a few years. I have no idea what else RTL wants to do. Something is coming, I know that, but I can’t say everything.”
Never never’
In any case, Gerard doesn’t seem very enthusiastic. “Well, you never know what happens. I have always said very often: never say no. But yes, at a certain point there are also a lot of things that make you think: does that still work these days? Can you still shout those things that you have always shouted in those programs in this day and age?”
Maybe that humor is no longer allowed, he says. “Because there is a lot going on. Nowadays, if you say ‘hey, hello’, you’ll almost get the police on your pants. So you have to be very careful.”
‘Keep watching!’
The fragments of Geer and Goor are still a hit on the internet. So there seems to be a demand for it. “I never say ‘never’, we’ll see, we’ll wait and see. People really enjoyed it and still do. So even when I speak to young people again or people who are depressed, they still put Geer and Goor on.”
He concludes: “If it has a healing effect, in that case, then they should continue to look at that.”
