Lisanne de Witte was welcomed like a star at her athletics club AV Trias. The 31-year-old athlete recently won gold at the Athletics World Championships, so she also had to be on the podium in Heiloo. In addition, there was also a lot of interest among the youth in an autograph of ‘their’ world champion.
In Budapest, Lisanne de Witte won gold in the 4×400 meters with the Dutch relay team. She was active at the tournament together with Lieke Klaver, Femke Bol, Cathelijne Peeters and Eveline Saalberg. However, De Witte only ran in the semi-finals, so the medal feels slightly different to her.
De Witte has been part of the relay team for more than 10 years. This makes the ‘mother of the relay’ the most experienced runner in the Netherlands.
