The Spanish football record champions Real Madrid have disenchanted the surprising league leaders FC Girona and placed themselves at the top of the Primera Division. The team led by Rio world champion Toni Kroos won the top game in Girona 3-0 (2-0) and inflicted their first defeat of the season on last year’s promoted team.

Former Bundesliga striker Joselu gave the Royals the lead in the 17th minute after preparatory work by ex-Dortmund player Jude Bellingham. A little later, French runner-up Aurelien Tchouameni made it 2-0 after a corner from Kroos (21st minute). Bellingham made the decision with his sixth goal of the season (71st). According to video evidence, Nacho was shown a red card in stoppage time for excessively hard entry (90th + 3).

The Real defense around national player Antonio Rüdiger remained clean for the second time in a row after losing 3-1 in the derby at Atletico Madrid. Girona, tenth as a promoted team last season, lost the league lead on Friday to defending champions FC Barcelona (1-0 against Sevilla FC), but could have climbed back to first place with a draw.

Barca wins against Sevilla

An own goal by former Real star Sergio Ramos gave FC Barcelona victory against Sevilla FC on Friday evening and first place in the Primera División.

The defending champions had a hard time, and former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski was rarely dangerous. Ramos then unfortunately stumbled the ball into his own goal from close range (76th minute).
