After Brighton, City and United also collapse. On the seventh day of the Premier League, the Manchester teams lost against Wolverhampton (2-1 to the Citizens) and Crystal Palace, which won three points at Old Trafford thanks to a goal from former Dorian Andersen. However, Odegaard’s Arsenal are smiling (for him a goal, an assist and a penalty won in the 4-0 away to Bournemouth) and Tonali’s Newcastle, who started from the bench in the success (2-0) against Burnley . West Ham and Luton Town also won, playing against Sheffield United and Everton respectively.

Wolves-Manchester City 2-1

The away match against Wolverhampton turns out to be much more difficult than expected for Guardiola’s team, forced to do without the suspended Rodri and the injured Bernardo Silva, Stones and De Bruyne. Behind Haaland there is the trio made up of Foden, Alvarez and Doku, tasked with puncturing the Wolves defense, fresh from 5 points won in 6 games. The first half ends 1-0 for the home team, who take the lead in the 13th minute thanks to an own goal: excellent run by Pedro Neto on the right, low cross and decisive deflection by Ruben Dias behind Ederson. In the second half Alvarez equalized with a splendid shot from a free kick, but in the 66th minute the Wolves were ahead again through Hwang Hee-Chan. City’s defense is not flawless, leaving Cunha alone in the center of the area. The Brazilian serves the Korean on the bank, who easily overcomes Ederson and seals the final 2-1.

manchester united-crystal palace 0-1

After a start to the championship with three knockouts in five outings, the Red Devils – who will host Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday – also suffer against Palace. Ten Hag confirms Onana in goal, Amrabat at left back and Hojlund at the center of the attack. In the first half United tried to break through centrally but crashed into Roy Hodgson’s well-deployed defence. The leader of the rearguard is former Sampdoria player Andersen, who was also decisive today in the opponent’s area: in the 25th minute Eze crossed the ball into the middle from a free kick, the Dane volleyed the ball to make it 1-0. In the second half the Red Devils introduced Garnacho, Eriksen and Martial to try to turn it around, but they clashed with the best Guehi, protected by the Malian Doucoure in midfield. The match ends 0-1 and Palace overtakes Onana and co, who momentarily slip to tenth place.

newcastle-burnley 2-0

Fresh from the 8-0 defeat of Sheffield and the success in the Carabao Cup against Manchester City, the Magpies also achieved a victory against Burnley, who started well but conceded a goal in the 14th minute and then found themselves crushed in their own half. Also in view of the Champions League match, scheduled for Wednesday against PSG, Tonali (substituted in the 68th minute) starts from the bench. The first goal is the result of high pressing from Howe’s men: Trippier recovers the ball in the midfield, Almiron gets it delivered and kicks to the corner from the edge of the area. Anderson comes close to scoring an encore just before half-time, Isak scores it in the 76th minute from a penalty, awarded due to a foul by Al-Dakhil on Gordon. Newcastle thus fly to -3 behind Brighton, fifth in the table with 15 points.

bournemouth-arsenal 0-4

Everything is easy for the Gunners at Bournemouth, who remain stuck on 3 points in 7 matches. Saka, Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus push Arteta’s team forward, who are already 1-0 up in the 17th minute thanks to a header from Saka. In the 44th minute Nketiah gets a penalty, converted by Odegaard, in the 53rd minute the captain is brought down by Christie and gives the serve to the newly arrived Havertz. The former Chelsea player displaces Neto and scores his first goal with Arsenal, who fly -1 behind Manchester City. In injury time White also scored a poker, deflecting Odegaard’s cross with a gore. Now let’s move on to Tuesday’s match against Lens, an opponent in the second round of the Champions League group stage.

West Ham-Sheffield United 2-0

In front of their fans, the Hammers – now at 13 points and ever closer to the European zone – win without particular difficulties. After a couple of rings suffered in the opening minutes, Paqueta and his teammates upped the pace and, in the 24th minute, exploited a good combination on the right: Soucek fed Coufal on the run, the full-back crossed in tow for Bowen who sealed the 1-0 with the plate. In the 37th minute, Sheffield loses the ball at the exit, Antonio receives it in the midfield and rewards the insertion of Soucek, who is very cold in front of the goalkeeper. In the second half the Blades rallied together to avoid a second consecutive goleada, they improved in the offensive phase but weren’t even able to close the gap.

everton luton town 1-2

A good Luton put Pickford & Co in difficulty, who went two goals down, then recovered but failed to equalise. A direct battle for the relegation fight is taking place at Goodison Park. The Hatters made good use of set pieces, resulting in two goals in half an hour: in the 24th minute Lockyer headed in a corner, five minutes later Morris doubled the lead with his right foot, reaching the finish from Doughty’s free kick. Everton, however, did not collapse: after the 2-0 they launched an assault on the opponent’s area and in the 41st minute closed the gap with Calvert-Lewin, who scored into an empty net by exploiting a mix-up in the Luton defence. But his goal was of little use, considering that the score remained unchanged, despite the final siege, for the entire duration of the second half.
