The pressure in this game is clearly on the guests from Duisburg, who are bottom of the table with just three points and therefore had to experience their worst start to the season in the club’s history. Especially after the 2-0 defeat at Viktoria Köln last Saturday, the Zebras’ nerves are on edge. Four bankruptcies in a row and a lot of pressure from those around them who actually had completely different goals for this season – these are difficult circumstances that former U19 coach Engin Vural now has to deal with.

In the Verl game alone, the BVB youngsters scored as many goals as in the first six games combined. Remarkably, they managed to collect a whopping eleven points with just six goals scored. Their trump card was often their strong defense.

A fifth place in the table is Dortmund’s strong starting point before their fourth home game this season. After two narrow victories in a row against Viktoria Köln and last weekend against SC Verl, the trend for coach Jan Zimmermann’s team is clearly upwards again. They were very lucky, especially against Verler, because the striker Mittelstädt, who had replaced the injured goalkeeper Unbehaun, was unable to hold on to the ball and Justin Butler was able to score the lucky punch in stoppage time to make it 3-2.

Actually, this game shouldn’t take place until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, when the remaining third league teams play the 9th matchday. But since BVB’s first team is already playing at home against AC Milan next Wednesday, this game had to be brought forward a week for organizational reasons.
