Heung-min Son is officially under contract with Tottenham Hotspur until June 2025. Again “telegraph“ reports, the Londoners are trying not to let any discussions arise about the attacker’s sporting future. The Premier League club wants to prevent a scenario similar to that of center forward Harry Kane, whose stay became the dominant topic at Spurs – until the 30-year-old finally went to FC Bayern for at least 100 million euros a year before the end of his contract.
According to the paper, Tottenham is drawing an option in Son’s contract in order to tie the veteran to the club for at least another year – until 2026. Although this possibility has not yet been exhausted and this will not happen in a timely manner, everyone involved is clear that the option will be taken. It is said that the “Spurs” even have until the end of the current season to do so.

Son, who trained at HSV among others, moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Tottenham in 2015 for 30 million euros. Since then, the South Korean has scored 148 goals and 80 assists in 378 games. The national player has now increased his market value to up to 90 million euros – he currently stands at 50 million euros, which makes him the third most valuable professional (together with Dejan Kulusevski) in the squad.
Son appeared on the pitch 297 times with Kane, who moved to Munich, more often than with any other player at professional level. Bayern’s most expensive purchase in history can be brought back to Tottenham in the future, club boss Daniel Levy recently confirmed. According to the Telegraph, such a possibility depends on both clubs agreeing on the transfer fee and the player’s will. “Sky” in Germany, among others, had previously reported that it was not a classic buyback clause, but rather a “matching right”.
“If Harry wants to return to the Premier League one day and come to Tottenham, we have the opportunity to buy him back. Harry was a great servant of the club, an amazing player, someone who came from our academy, but you can’t look into the future. Who knows,” Levy explained.
