After moving from Europe to the USA, world champion Lionel Messi can slow down his footballing gear. “I want to win, I want to face the competition, but it’s more relaxed here,” said the Inter Miami CF offensive star in an interview published on Thursday by Argentine YouTuber Miguel Granados about his involvement in Major League Soccer.
“I continue to have fun playing. But now of course it’s something different. That’s how we decided to come here and not continue playing in Europe,” Messi added. “I’m training and playing as I always have, but it’s also true that I’m older, I’ve played thousands of games, time moves on for all of us.”
The most valuable player in the North American top league has eleven goals and five assists in twelve games for Inter Miami to date. On Wednesday, Messi was substituted injured in the first half of the game against Toronto FC. Coach Gerardo Martino said it was an older injury to his leg.

In the somewhat strange interview at his home in Miami, Messi chatted about the family’s everyday life, his closest friends in the Argentine national team and his fashion preferences. For example, he told Granados that his sons eat toast and hot chocolate for breakfast and play soccer in the children’s section at Inter Miami, that he watches series with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo after lunch, and that he spends too much time on his cell phone and not can handle a drill.
