With only a few days to go, now is the time to prepare yourself for Carnival with the very latest squatters. Maarten Kortlever of the radio team at Omroep Brabant has selected the best one for you. “These are the songs you should definitely hear this year.”
1. The Tappers – Balkan sandwich.
“A nice danceable song”, says Koen Wijn of the morning show Wakker!. “I am very charmed by this song. Nice music in combination with crazy lyrics. Delicious with a fat bite. An ideal mix for a carnival hit.”
2. Fine fish – Lamme Frans
This carnival number was made in consultation with Omroep Brabant. “It is the new opening song of 3 Uurkes Vurraf. Really a song that stays in your head all day long. This record should not be missing from our list. It is the song to kick off Carnival 2022,” says Maarten. .
3. Jan Biggel – Our mother still sea
“The party hit of the year,” says Maarten. “Young and old go wild here with carnival. Jan Biggel from Schijndel is a real cult hero. This single is sung en masse on the squares and in the bars. For sure.”
4. The men of – Carnival is Carnival
“How do you get there, fantastic”, says Koen Wijn. “The song consists for ninety percent of the word carnival. Well made up, it is also a nice carnival tune. A song that stands out at carnival.”
5. The Broken Stoves – It’s carnival again
“An A-typical carnival song”, says Maarten. The song was made to the tune of Monsieur Cannibale from the Efteling. “A song that fits with the approaching end of the corona pandemic. It breathes something of ‘we are allowed again’. We can go out with our mates again and be nice and broke.” A few years ago, the Kapotte Kachels still wanted carnival celebrants from above the rivers to go that way again as quickly as possible.
Bonus number: Tappie Thijs
Thijs’s challenge is well known: to become a citizen of Brabant. “To prove that, he had to make a carnival song. He still needs to work on his singing qualities. But his song ‘de beer shower’ is a really nice song,” Koen judges. “Or as we say in Brabant: not bad.”
This weekend, Omroep Brabant will feature non-stop carnival music in the Dweilradio program.
