MSV Duisburg has reacted to the weak start to the season in the 3rd football league and released coach Torsten Ziegner.
The former Bundesliga club announced this on Saturday morning after the bitter 2:3 (2:1) against SC Verl. Ziegner led the “Zebras” to stay in the league last season, but the start of the new season was a failure with three draws and three defeats.
A successor should be announced “promptly,” MSV wrote in the statement. In addition to Ziegner, assistant coach Michael Hiemisch was also relieved of his duties.
Despite a 2-0 lead against Verl on Friday, Duisburg missed its first sense of success in the sixth game of the season. The MSV fans then reacted with whistles and shouts of “Ziegner out”.
