McLaren introduces completely new paintwork

The McLaren F1 team is celebrating its anniversary – and is using this occasion to once again adapt the design of its 2023 car. At the Formula 1 races in Singapore and Japan, the traditional racing team will be competing with a new livery, which was significantly influenced by a sponsor.

The design department of the McLaren F1 team is very busy this year. No wonder: the traditional racing team is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding by Bruce McLaren – and is therefore coming up with a lot of ideas.

The McLaren team presented an optimized design at the British Grand Prix in July. For the upcoming Formula 1 races in Singapore and Japan, the team from Woking is giving the vehicles of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri the next repaint.

“Stealth Mode” is what the McLaren racing team calls the new look on social networks, which was inspired by a main sponsor. Unlike before, orange is now no longer the dominant color, but black. There are still plenty of orange elements – for example on the nose, the wings and the side pods.

New McLaren paintwork delights team boss Zak Brown

“Our partnership with OKX goes from strength to strength and it’s fantastic to celebrate it with this incredible livery,” said Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, in a statement from the racing team: “Stealth Mode changes the colors of our race car and brings something exciting and other things in these two great races in Singapore and Japan.”

The McLaren team hopes “that the fans will love it as much as we do,” Brown continued.

For adjustments to the paintwork during the course of a Formula 1 season, the approval of the motorsport association (FIA) is generally required. Article 9.1.b of the FIA’s Formula 1 sporting regulations states that “both vehicles entered by a participant must be presented in essentially the same livery in each competition”.

Any significant change to this livery during a championship may only be made with the consent of the FIA and the commercial rights holder, it continues.
