Last weekend saw one of the biggest collegiate games of the year in the United States, when the Iowa State University and University of Iowa Yankee football teams faced off in front of 60,000 spectators.
Instead of the athletes, it was the people who showed up at the event who got the most attention Donald Trump. The Republican, who entered the presidential race, watched the game from the glass enclosure of Jack Trice Stadium. When the ex-president stepped out to greet the crowd, he received both cheers and boos.
From the videos and pictures taken from the stadium, it can be interpreted that Trump’s visit did not please everyone.
Some people had gone to the trouble and organized a prank flyover for Trump. The banner pulled by the plane asked the question “where is Melania”.
Melania Trump is not missing, but she has not participated in her husband’s campaigning either. The former first lady of the USA has stayed away from the commotion surrounding Trump.
The 77-year-old Trump visited the university campus before the start of the match. A politician wandering in the middle of a sea of people grilled steaks and threw footballs into the crowd. Supporters around them chanted “USA” and “four more years”.
Donald Trump’s Closest Republican rivals also participated in the match Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamywhich according to the New York Times also received mixed reception.
The Hawkeyes of the University of Iowa beat the Cyclones, but for Trump, the more important thing than the outcome of the match is to keep Iowa a Republican state in the next election. The people of the United States will vote for the president in November next year.
